12. Tai Chi
Tai chi, like yoga and meditation, may not directly treat colon cancer, but it may help with managing stress and promoting relaxation, which can be beneficial for individuals undergoing cancer treatment. Stress can have a negative impact on the immune system, so reducing stress through techniques such as tai chi may help to support the body’s ability to fight off disease.
Tai chi is a low-impact exercise that is gentle on the body and can be easily modified to accommodate physical limitations, making it a good option for individuals recovering from surgery or undergoing chemotherapy.
11. Reiki
Reiki is a form of energy healing that involves the practitioner placing their hands on or near the person receiving the treatment in order to channel healing energy. It may help to improve a person’s quality of life by reducing stress, anxiety, and depression, which can be beneficial for individuals undergoing cancer treatment.
Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment and should not be used to treat colon cancer alone.
10. Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate the body’s own healing mechanisms. There is limited scientific evidence on the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating colon cancer specifically.
However, acupuncture has been used to help alleviate symptoms such as pain, nausea and vomiting, fatigue, and xerostomia (dry mouth) which are commonly caused by cancer treatments. Acupuncture may also help to reduce stress and anxiety, and improve the overall quality of life.
9. Acupressure
Acupressure is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that involves applying pressure to specific points on the body, similar to acupuncture but without the use of needles. There is limited scientific evidence on the effectiveness of acupressure in treating colon cancer specifically.
However, acupressure may be used to help alleviate symptoms such as pain, nausea and vomiting, fatigue, and xerostomia (dry mouth) which are commonly caused by cancer treatments. Acupressure may also help to reduce stress and anxiety and improve the overall quality of life.
8. Medical Marijuana/Cannabidiol (CBD) Oil
Medical marijuana, also known as cannabis, and Cannabidiol (CBD) oil are derived from the cannabis plant and have been suggested to have potential therapeutic benefits for a variety of medical conditions.
Some preliminary studies have suggested that compounds found in cannabis may have anti-tumor effects and may help to reduce the growth and spread of cancer cells.
7. Colon Resection Surgery
Colon resection surgery is a surgical procedure that involves removing the tumor and a margin of healthy tissue around it. This is one of the primary ways to treat colon cancer, as it can remove the cancerous cells and prevent them from spreading.
Depending on the location of the tumor, a colon resection surgery may be performed. This involves removing maybe a portion of the colon or the entire colon itself.
