4. Enlarged Liver
The possible cause of an enlarged liver, a condition known as hepatomegaly, could be liver cancer itself. Various health conditions can lead to hepatomegaly. Infection, obesity, and autoimmune disease are some of them.
Medications and toxins can also cause hepatomegaly. An enlarged liver is a sign that the liver is damaged. It could affect the other organs.
3. White Stools
The appearance of white stools in liver cancer may be caused by the inability of the liver to produce bile.
During digestion, bile will give stools a brown color. Due to the inflammation in the liver, bile is not able to pass through. It will be stored in the gallbladder, unable to excrete through the fecal route.
2. Skin Discoloration
Skin discoloration is another symptom of liver cancer. The skin usually turns yellow. This happens because the bilirubin levels in the blood can become elevated.
This may be the result of cancer obstructing a bile duct or otherwise interfering with the liver’s normal function. Jaundice is a condition that occurs when there is an excess of bilirubin in the blood. The skin can turn yellow, as well as the white part of the eyes.
1. Swollen Tummy
A swollen tummy may likely be caused by inflammation. Liver cancer can also cause a build-up of fluid in the abdomen area. Ascites is a condition where fluid builds up in the abdomen.
When a person has liver cancer, pressure can build up in the blood vessels in the liver. This can cause fluid to leak out into the abdominal cavity. Ascites could be caused by cancer itself if it blocks both the blood and lymph vessels. This can be painful and uncomfortable. It may interfere with daily life.
Treatments And Care
The goal of treatment is to eliminate or control cancer, while also improving the quality of life. Those with liver cancer have many different treatment options available to them.
The type of treatment the individual chooses depends on his or her situation, medical history, and doctor’s recommendation. Each of these treatments may help reduce symptoms, slow the growth of cancer, and improve quality of life.
The choice of treatment will depend on the size and location of the tumor, as well as overall health. It is important to discuss the treatment plan with a medical team to know exactly what to expect.
9. Soy
A moderate amount of whole soy foods – about one to two servings a day – can reduce the risk of developing liver cancer. Soy milk, tofu, edamame, and miso soup are common sources of soy-based food.
Soy has been shown to have anticancer properties. Studies have found that it inhibits the growth of cancer cells. It can also help protect against the adverse effects of cancer radiation therapy.
