5. Avoid Alcoholic Beverages
Too much alcohol can reduce the production of an antidiuretic hormone called vasopressin. It can affect the function of the kidneys to filter blood and remove excess water and waste to make urine.
Since the diuretic function of the kidneys is affected, it can lead to dehydration which reduces blood volume. Hence, it’s best to stay away from alcoholic beverages to avoid dehydration.
4. Cut Back On Carbs
Carbohydrate-rich foods, especially processed carbs such as pasta, breakfast cereals, and white rice, are digested more rapidly as compared to fiber-rich foods such as fruits and vegetables. This results in a decrease in blood pressure.
Eating a diet that consists of bananas, blueberries, oats, dates, and yogurt can help improve your blood pressure.
