Localized pain may be relieved immediately by various topical medicines. Certain ointments, gels, and lotions can alleviate nerve pain by modifying blood flow, lowering inflammation, and numbing the area. Some of the common medicines used to treat sciatica may include methyl salicylate, menthol, camphor, and capsaicin.
Since topical drugs are administered locally, they may offer prompt pain relief. Some preparations may cause skin irritation. Therefore, testing a little amount first is advised.

7. Nutrition
There are several excellent foods that are beneficial for sciatica, and you should consider adding them to your diet. Certain foods have been shown to alleviate sciatic nerve pain, while others have been found to exacerbate it.
Changing your diet may appear not much to be a factor. However, adding these foods that aid sciatica to your diet will make you feel substantially better.
For example, avoid processed food. Due to their chemical content, processed food can exacerbate inflammation. Inflammation will intensify the discomfort around the damaged nerve, worsening your sciatica.
Instead, eat food with anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant characteristics to assist alleviate sciatica symptoms.
Green leafy vegetables, almonds, extra virgin olive oil, oily fish (salmon, mackerel, and tuna), blueberries, pineapple, and coconut oil are foods that have been shown to alleviate sciatica symptoms.
